Install the firmware
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This page installs Tomi Frame on a Seeed reTerminal E1001 you already own. It runs in your browser over a USB cable, with no software to install. Afterwards you set the frame up in the Tomi Frame app over Bluetooth.
Before you start
- A computer with Chrome or Edge. Safari, Firefox and phones cannot reach USB devices.
- A USB-C cable that carries data. Some charging-only cables do not, and then no port appears.
- Installing replaces Seeed's firmware and erases everything on the device, including its Wi-Fi settings.
- Only the E1001 is supported. Do not connect any other board while this page is open.
Install
This browser cannot reach USB devices. Open this page in Chrome or Edge on a computer (not a phone or tablet).
This page must be opened over https to reach USB devices.
Version 0.1.10
- Connect the E1001 to the computer with the USB-C cable and switch it on.
- Press the button above. The browser lists serial ports: choose the one named USB Serial or CH340, then Connect.
- In the window that opens, choose Install Tomi Frame, then Install. Leave the cable in until it says the installation is complete. This takes a few minutes.
- The frame restarts and shows the Tomi Frame setup screen. Open the Tomi Frame app (iOS and Android), sign in and add the frame over Bluetooth.
- The frame then shows that it needs a licence, with a QR code. Scan it, or buy on the BYOD licence page. The frame unlocks within 15 minutes.
If something goes wrong
- No port in the list: try another cable and another USB port, and check the frame is switched on. On Windows, the CH340 driver may be missing; Windows Update usually installs it once the frame is plugged in.
- The installation stops halfway: nothing is lost. Press the button again and install once more. The frame cannot be damaged this way.
- Still stuck? Contact us with the error message the window shows.
